5 rain warnings issued for North Island

A very slow moving low continues to inch across the North Island this morning prompting a new round of rain warnings.

Northland, Bay of Plenty, Rotorua, Taranaki and Wanganui are all in the firing line.

Northland
    Heavy Rain Warning, Areas Affected: Northern and eastern parts of Northland north of Whangarei Rain is forecast to become persistent and heavier this morning, with 50 to 70mm likely in the hill country in the 6 to 8 hours from about 9am Wednesday, peaking at 15 to 20mm per hour at times from late morning to mid-afternoon. Rain should then ease to showers. Note that there will probably be a total of 30 to 50mm in other parts of Northland for this event.

Bay Of Plenty
    Heavy Rain Warning, Areas Affected: Eastern Bay of Plenty Rain is forecast to become heavier again this afternoon. In the 15 hours from 9am to midnight Wednesday, expect 80 to 120mm of rain near the ranges and 50mm to 70mm in lower lying areas east of Whakatane. The heaviest falls are expected later this afternoon and evening when rates could reach 25mm per hour at times near the ranges.

Rotorua
    Heavy Rain Warning, Areas Affected: Eastern Bay of Plenty Rain is forecast to become heavier again this afternoon. In the 15 hours from 9am to midnight Wednesday, expect 80 to 120mm of rain near the ranges and 50mm to 70mm in lower lying areas east of Whakatane. The heaviest falls are expected later this afternoon and evening when rates could reach 25mm per hour at times near the ranges.

    Heavy Rain Warning, Areas Affected: Taranaki including the hill country extending inland Further periods of heavy rain can be expected through to about mid-afternoon before easing to showers. In the 6 to 8 hours from 9am Wednesday, expect another 50 to 80mm on upper slopes of Mt Taranaki, peaking at 15 to 20mm per hour late morning, and up to 50mm at lower levels of the mountain and on the hill country extending inland to the headwaters of the Whanganui River.

It has done nothing but rain here. We seem to always be getting flooding on the roads, but never hear anything on here about all our rain. I have only lived here since the 1st June (yes farming) but I have never been in a place that has continuous rain. Sure we get the odd dry day. But hey
