An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale has jolted much of central New Zealand this evening.
According to GeoNet the quake hit at 9:33pm and was 120kms deep, centred under the Whanganui Basin.
WeatherWatch.co.nz has received dozens of reports from the upper South Island to Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki.
No reports of damage have been reported.
Our readers reported a loud rumbling associated with the quake.

I was on my couch, felt it as I watching Terminator..but i was slight so wasn’t too sure if it was a EQ or just my behind spasming from the workout at the gym!

I felt it at that exact time and asked my flatmate but he did not feel it. Just wondering could it be that far because I live in Karori.
