Another aftershock woke many Cantabrians overnight as a 4.9 magnitude quake rocked the region.
It was 7.5km deep and centred just off Sumner, near Godley Heads and struck at 3.29 this morning.
Some residents say it felt significantly stronger than the 4.8 aftershock that occurred just a couple of days ago.
Some Cantabrians remain on edge after several 4.0 shakes or more have taken place in recent days.
