An aftershock measuring 4.8 on the richter scale was centred near Port Levy, Banks Peninsula this afternoon.
A number of residents described it as an unusual circular motion and considerably different from many of the other aftershocks.It lasted for about 15 seconds.
It was recorded at a depth of 8km.

Dear Christchurch People,
Even though we live in the Wellington area, we still have no idea what you must still be going through. You have our sympathy. You have taken a hard hit instead of us, and are still getting aftershocks.
May they end soon.
