30 degree heat arrives in North Island

> From the WeatherWatch archives

It’s getting even hotter out there this afternoon.

Napier is the first North Island centre to hit 30 degrees this Spring with 29 in Hastings this past hour.

Northland is now up to 24 degrees, Auckland and Hamilton 22 and 23 in Paeroa.

In the South Island Blenheim has 29, Christchurch 28 and Timaru has 25.

Invercargill has struggled all day to heat up though – it’s currently just 13.

These readings came from official Met Service stations so of course I believe them.

It’s just the silly claims I don’t believe.

I’m pretty sure we reached our high for the day before 9am this morning here in Invers but it’s been much more pleasant for sanding/painting indoors now than trying to do so in heat!
