20 spectacular PHOTOS that sum up NZ’s recent weather

> From the WeatherWatch archives

We’ve had severe thunderstorms, tornados, waterspouts, funnel clouds, torrential rain and beautiful peaceful evenings.   Clouds have been a major part of our summer weather this year and while it’s easy to think of the gloomy side to cloudy weather, these photos show the spectacular side to summer clouds.

Our thanks to all our readers who have sent in many photos recently.

Fantastic photo’s! A big thankyou to all the photographers for sharing them with us all.

WW, that dapply cloud in Linda McDonald and Julia Wehners photo’s has always fascinated me. I have seen it alot at BOP. In fact, I reckon I have seen it here more than I saw it at Taranaki. What makes it develop like that?

Would be nice to know when and where Gary Powell’s first pic of that impressive funnel cloud was taken?

WW Forecast Team on 21/02/2012 7:34pm

Hi there, Gary’s photo was taken from Taupo’s big thunderstorm

Cheers

Thank-you. 🙂

Do you know of any confirmed reports of touchdown, either over land or water?

No we didn’t sorry – and that photo was the first we’d seen/heard about it!
