> From the WeatherWatch archives

A cold front lies around Central NZ and is slowly moving northwards for Sunday – it will clear the North Island by dawn Monday.

Windiest weather today is over the upper South Island / Central New Zealand and the lower/eastern North Island – and will slowly move northwards.

Rain becomes heavier in the west today. Further north and it’s mainly dry but cloudy with rain moving into Auckland by this evening.

On Monday temperatures drop in some regions, especially the South Island where snow moves up the Southern Alps. See our other news stories for snow and rain accumulation maps for this weekend.
