If you have any questions about functionality of our website(s) or app, trying to locate maps or data, or have a simple comment/feedback - please post a comment below!
As of 2024 we will no longer be publishing questions related to weather forecasts if they are answered via our hyper-local hourly & 10 day forecasts, weather maps and regular daily and monthly weather & climate videos.
We’re a small NZ business with limited resources to respond to general weather questions. Our social media pages may be helpful to you, especially if you want to often talk (or groan!) about your local weather. You can find more resources from us here if that’s your thing.
Have questions of a commercial nature? Contact us directly here.
Thanks for your support!
Don’t forget to check out our RuralWeather.co.nz website (great for event planning or attending + camping!) and also, our brand new Weather Alerting App!

Been rather steady rain for past couple of hours and gusty wind here in central New Plymouth yet no mention in your forecast, why???

Would be nice if we could view the previous three or four days weather forecast as an option. Either full details or light details.
There could be a < button next to the current day to go back.

Hi Darian, thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately neither NIWA or MetService will openly & freely share historical data as they have commercialised it.
NZ is the only modern country to block open and free access of tax funded/publicly owned weather data. To keep our own data set would be too expensive and is why the Government funds NIWA and MetService to do it. So for now, we can’t do what you suggest sadly.
Kind regards,
WW

hi guys what does westerly and south westerly mean for wellington?

Hey Jet, Wellington doesn’t get sou-westers due to the layout of the Southern Alps/Cook Strait/lower North Island. Usually sou-westers turn into Southerlies and westerlies turn into Nor-Westers.

Your Tauranga temp report Monday 4th Nov 8am was 10c, then at 8:14am 17c but it was 14c at that time

any idea on when this weathers going to ease up on us down south. Its getting bloody hard to keep going. Any sun would be ideal right now. Surely it will even out this summer
