Winds continue to rise

Winds continue to rise this morning as a moderately aggressive system moves in from the west.

Gales are predicted in a number of areas today from about Taranaki southwards.

This morning winds are near gale force along parts of the West Coast, also in Taranaki east of the mountain and around Wellington.  Windsy conditions have also moved in to Christchurch.

WeatherWatch.co.nz will have updates across this afternoon as the developing system starts to move in.

Looks as if theres going to be plenty of rain anywhere north of Hamilton the next few days,maybe some flood warnings in low lying areas?

It’s cloudy and with some gusts of wind in Christchurch at present with a temperature of 15 degrees.
