A warm front lies over the North Island today bringing patchy rain or drizzle, dry for the South Island under a ridge of high pressure.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Patchy rain or drizzle, easing at some point this afternoon. Overnight rain pushes back in from the north possibly heavy. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy, a few spits develop in the morning then rain moves into Taranaki across to the Central North Island during the afternoon, spreading a little further south in the evening. East to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 10-13

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with a few showers or drizzle patches, rain later in the day. Light winds tend to the northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 11-13

Wellington

A mostly sunny morning then cloud starts to increase from afternoon, late evening or overnight showers possible. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 11-13

Marlborough & Nelson

A sunny morning then cloud starts to increase from afternoon, late evening or overnight showers possible about the Sounds and Golden Bay. Light southeasterly winds.
Highs: 11-13

Canterbury

Some morning mist or fog then sun breaks through, cloud may hang around at times for parts of North Canterbury for the rest of the day. Light winds tend east to northeast in the afternoon.

West Coast

Mostly sunny, high cloud spreads into Buller from the north afternoon onwards. Light winds tend to the southerly quarter in the afternoon.

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny, some morning mist or fog possible, a frosty start inland. Cloud starts to drift in from afternoon for Southland as light winds tend to the west, evening showers or drizzle.
