Wednesday’s national forecast – NZ is smothered in high pressure

A huge block of high pressure is covering the entire country today.

We have a couple of cold nights on the way nationwide but milder afternoons on the way.

Today is a fairly average day temperature-wise after a cold start. There should be plenty of sunny or mostly sunny weather around. Get your Vitamin D if you can! 🙂

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A cold start then a stunning day. Light winds drifting from the southerly quarter.
Highs: 14-17


Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A cold start. A slight risk of a frost in sheltered places. Sunny. Light winds, possibly from the north.
Highs: 14

Eastern North Island

A cold start with Wairarapa with the chance of a light frost. Further north a milder start to the day with clouds breaking to sunnier weather. Southerly quarter winds fade out to calm.
Highs: 14

Wellington

A cool start with a mainly sunny day and northerly winds.
High: 13 or 14

Marlborough & Nels

A cold start with morning frosts possible inland, then Sunny. Light winds, possibly a northerly.
Highs: 14-16

Canterbury
A cold start with morning frosts possible inland, then mostly sunny. Light winds or calm
Highs: 12-14

West Coast

A cold start with morning frosts inland, then mostly sunny. Light winds or calm.
Highs: 13-14

Southland & Otago
A cold start with morning frosts possible if a light breeze doesn’t form, then mostly sunny but may be some cloudy areas. Light winds, a possible light breeze from the north.
Highs: 11-13
