Anticyclonic conditions persist about the North Island today bringing mainly settled weather, plenty of high cloud however. A front moves onto the South Island and weakens as it moves north, most of the rain associated with this front is likely on the West Coast.

Sunny spells and plenty of high cloud, west to southwest breezes.
Highs: 21-22

Central North Island, Waikato
& Bay Of Plenty

Sunny spells and high cloud with west to southwest breezes.
Highs: 21-23
Tonight’s Lows: 9-13

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with high cloud, light winds then afternoon easterly
breezes.
Highs: 22-23
Tonight’s Lows: 12-13

Western North Island

Sunny spells with high cloud, northerlies tend westerly in the afternoon
south of Taranaki. Expect westerlies for much of the day about Taranaki. Cloud
thickens and lowers overnight.

Tonight’s Lows: 11-12

Wellington

Plenty of high cloud with northerly breezes, strong at times. Cloud
thickens and lowers overnight.

Nelson

Mostly sunny with high cloud, light winds and afternoon northerlies.

Marlborough

Mostly sunny with high cloud, northwesterly winds a bit breezy during the
afternoon.

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, west to northwest breezes
inland and northeasterlies along the coast. Some high cloud at times especially
about North Canterbury.

West Coast

Mostly cloudy with north to northeasterly breezes, the odd light shower at
times then some rain moves in later in the day for a time.

Coastal Otago

A few spells of morning rain possible with cloudy skies, northerly breezes.
Sunny areas and northeasterly breezes in the afternoon, there may be a further
late afternoon shower however.

Central Otago

A period of early rain clears to sunny spells and some cloud, northwesterly
winds. Mid to late afternoon a few further showers may move through for a
time.

Southland

Some morning rain then clearing by midday as northerlies change westerly,
sunny spells develop in the afternoon. A few further showers may move through
mid to late afternoon for a time.
High: 19
