A low pressure system west of the North Island brings cloudy skies to the north today, areas of rain or drizzle too. The east and south of the North Island may remain mainly dry till later in the day. Anticyclonic weather brings more settled conditions to the South Island, later in the day a few showers may approach Nelson and Marlborough however.

Auckland & Northland

Cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle, chance of a heavy fall. Brisk humid east to northeast winds.
Highs: 20-23

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy with drizzle turning to rain by midday about the Bay Of Plenty, a heavy fall or two possible. The odd drizzle patch elsewhere with some evening rain for a time. Humid northeasterlies.
Highs: 19-22

Eastern North Island

High cloud thickens in the morning becoming cloudy by midday, the odd shower possible from late afternoon mainly about Gisborne then evening further south. Northeasterly breezes.
Highs: 22-23

Western North Island

Mostly cloudy skies with humid northeasterlies, rain about Taranaki with the chance of a heavy fall then easing overnight. Elsewhere expect mainly dry weather, a few late evening showers possible from Wanganui through to Kapiti.
Highs: 20-23

Wellington

Morning sunny spells with thickening cloud, becoming mostly cloudy in the afternoon with northerly breezes. A few spots of evening rain possible, the odd shower more likely overnight.
Highs: 21-22

Marlborough & Nelson

Morning sunny spells with thickening cloud, becoming mostly cloudy in the afternoon with north to northeasterly breezes. Some late evening rain possible, more likely overnight.
Highs: 22-25

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with light winds after any early cloud clears, afternoon easterly breezes. Some high cloud at times.
Highs: 22-25

West Coast

Sunny spells and some cloud, light winds. The odd late evening shower possible about Buller.
High: 20-22

Coastal Otago

Mostly sunny with afternoon northeasterly breezes, there may be some cloud morning and night.
Highs: 18-20

Central Otago

Sunny with light winds, warm temperatures.
Highs: 24-28

Southland

Sunny with light winds tending southerly in the afternoon.
High: 23
