A ridge of high pressure starts to push over the South Island today meanwhile expect a southeasterly airflow for the North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny, a few late afternoon / evening showers possible as light winds tend easterly.
Highs: 27-29

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Some morning sun then cloud thickens up by midday with the risk of a shower, southeasterly winds freshen.
Highs: 20-27

Eastern North Island
Southerlies about Wairarapa with a light shower or two, spreading further northwards by midday.
Highs: 19-22

Wellington
Chance of an early shower, cloud breaks to some sun in the afternoon. Breezy southeasterly winds.
High: 18

Marlborough & Nelson
Southeasterlies freshen early this morning bringing cloudy areas.
Highs: 17-18

Canterbury
A mostly cloudy and cool day, perhaps a morning shower or two, especially inland. Southerly winds.
Highs: 13-15

West Coast
Mostly sunny, some cloud Greymouth northwards from afternoon may bring a few showers. Light southeasterlies tending onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 21-24

Southland & Otago
Morning cloud breaks to a mostly sunny afternoon for Southland, sunny for Central Otago. Coastal Otago has a mix of sun and cloud. Southerlies tend southeast around midday. Evening easterlies for coastal Otago.
Highs: 14-18
