A southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, a weak front moves onto the lower South Island this morning then pushed northwards.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with southwesterly winds, picking up a little from afternoon. Cloud late afternoon or evening brings the risk of a shower in the west.
Highs: 19-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mainly sunny with light winds in the morning, west to southwest winds freshen in the afternoon bringing some cloud with the chance of a shower.
Highs: 16-18

Eastern North Island

Becoming mostly sunny in the morning (a few early showers about Gisborne clear), light winds tend northeast in the afternoon. A late evening or overnight southwest change brings the risk of a shower.
Highs: 18

Wellington

Mainly sunny with northerly winds, a late evening southerly change brings cloud.
High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson

Mainly sunny with light winds, a late evening southerly change brings some cloud.
Highs: 18-20

Canterbury

Mainly sunny with light winds, a fresh southwest change late afternoon or evening brings some cloud and the risk of a shower.
Highs: 17-19

West Coast

Mostly cloudy, a few showers possible from afternoon as light winds tend southwesterly.
Highs: 15-16

Southland & Otago

Southwesterlies freshen in the morning about Southland bringing showers then drying out in the afternoon. Showers move into Otago around midday for a brief time. Some sun may break through after showers clear.
Highs: 13-16
