Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Any early heavy rain easing to a few showers, showers may become heavy for some isolated spots this afternoon with a risk of thunderstorms then easing later in the day. Light winds.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy, the odd shower more likely from afternoon some of which may become heavy with thunderstorms then easing later in the evening or overnight. Taranaki sees sunny spells, perhaps a shower or two later in the afternoon / evening. Winds generally from the south although tending north to northwest about the Central North Island.

Eastern North Island
Morning rain eases away, perhaps even a few sunny spells breaking through however showers then develop in the afternoon. Showers more likely about the ranges some of which could be heavy with thunderstorms, perhaps spreading towards the coast then clearing away in the evening. Light winds in the morning tend east to northeast after midday.
A risk of fog this morning otherwise expect cloudy skies, rain developing this afternoon. South to southeasterly winds.

Marlborough & Nelson
Cloud or becoming cloudy this morning, showers from late afternoon or evening. Southeasterly winds about Marlborough, light northerlies in the afternoon for Nelson.
Any early drizzle clears then cloud breaks to sunny spells, cloud thickens again this evening. East to northeasterly winds.
Mainly sunny with light west to southwesterly winds.

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny although there may be some coastal cloud about Southland this morning. Some lower level cloud increasing about coastal Otago in the evening. Light winds.
