A front slowly moves northwards over the South Island today while a westerly airflow lies over the North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 21-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny weather with some cloud later in the evening or overnight, west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 19-22

Eastern North Island

Sunny with light winds, morning southerlies die away about Gisborne. Afternoon east to northeasterly winds about coastal Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.
Highs: 22-24

Wellington

Sunny spells and increasing cloud, chance of a shower from evening. Northerly winds gradually increase.
High: 19

Marlborough & Nelson

Mainly sunny with northwesterly breezes, chance spot of rain in the evening.
High: 27

Canterbury

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, an early afternoon southerly change brings a few showers which clear in the evening.
Highs: 24-25

West Coast

Rain, possibly heavy at times with thunderstorms then easing this afternoon and mostly clearing in the evening, becoming dry for many overnight. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-17

Southland & Otago

A few morning showers clear then expect sunny spells, chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening otherwise mainly dry. West to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-21
