A southwest change moves northwards over the country today, however it’s fairly weak, just bringing some heavy rain to the West Coast of the South Island this morning and a few showers elsewhere.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy areas with westerly winds. The odd shower at times, although the Bay Of Plenty is fairly dry. A change to southwest winds later in the evening or overnight.
Highs: 16-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly cloudy with the chance of a shower. Showers more likely late afternoon / evening as breezy northwesterly winds change southwest. Showers clear at night.
Highs: 14-16

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with some increasing high cloud, west to northwest winds change southwest in the evening bringing some cloud and the chance of a shower.
Highs: 18-21

Wellington

Gusty northwesterly winds change southerly late afternoon or evening with some brief rain then clearing. Skies clearing overnight.
High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson

High cloud, northwesterly winds change southwest in the afternoon bringing a few brief showers which then clear. Skies clearing up in the evening.
Highs: 15-16

Canterbury

High cloud at first then a southwest change moves in before midday bringing the chance of a few brief showers which then clear in the afternoon.
High: 13

West Coast

Morning rain possibly heavy, easing to showers by midday and clearing in the afternoon with sun breaking through. Northwesterlies change southwest in the morning.
Highs: 13-14

Southland & Otago

Morning rain eases and clears by midday then expect areas of cloud and some sun, breezy west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-11
