A front moves in from the west racing over the South Island this morning then the North Island this afternoon. Rain with heavy falls and possible thunderstorms as the front moves through in the west, only sporadic falls out east.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A few showers then a period of rain around midday as northwest winds change gusty westerly. Rain may be heavy with thunderstorms about the Waiakto and Bay Of Plenty then easing back to showers during the afternoon.

Rain develops in the morning becoming heavy with possible thunderstorms, northwesterly winds change strong westerly by midday. Rain easing back to a few showers mid afternoon.

Thick high cloud, rain passes through around midday then clears in the afternoon with sun breaking through as northerly winds change strong westerly.
Rain with possible thunderstorms in the morning, easing afternoon and sunny areas breaking through. Strong northwesterly winds possibly rising to gale at times after midday.

Morning rain, heavy falls and thunderstorms possible about Nelson and the Sounds, then clearing around midday as breezy northerly winds change gusty westerly. Becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon.
