Anticyclones lie either side of New Zealand today while a trough of low pressure lies over the country. The South Island is mainly settled however isolated showers possible late afternoon / evening about upper North Island regions one or two of which may be heavy.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas and mainly dry – chance of a late afternoon / evening showers possibly heavy especially about inland areas. Sea Breezes.
High: 26-29

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas, southeasterly winds. Chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening possibly heavy about northern Taranaki and the Central North Island.
Highs: 26-28

Eastern North Island

A mostly cloudy morning with a few showers, clearing this afternoon then cloud breaks to a few sunny areas later on. Southerly winds tend northeast by evening.
Highs: 23-24

Wellington

Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas, Sou’East winds ease then die away.
High: 23

Marlborough & Nelson

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, southeasterly winds tend northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 24-25

Canterbury

Any morning cloud breaks to sunny areas, East to Nor’East winds becoming breezy in the afternoon near the coast.
Highs: 20-24

West Coast

Sunny areas with west to northwest winds.
Highs: 21-24

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, westerly winds becoming a little gusty after midday more so about Southland. Winds tend light northeast in the afternoon about coastal Otago. Some rain possible late evening about Southland.
Highs: 20-24
