A weak ridge lies over the country today however a northwesterly airflow develops over the South Island by afternoon. A fairly settled day for most of New Zealand although expect areas of cloud for most regions.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas, any morning showers clear. Breezy West to Sou’West winds, afternoon northerlies for the Bay Of Plenty.
Highs: 20-22

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Periods of cloud and some sun with southwesterly winds, chance of a morning shower otherwise mainly dry. A mostly sunny day further inland about the Central North Island, light winds.
Highs: 20-21

Eastern North Island

Cloudy areas and occasional sun, southerly breezes die out later in the day.
Highs: 19-20

Wellington

Becoming mostly sunny by midday with southerly winds dying out in the afternoon, northerlies pick up by evening.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson

Cloudy areas and occasional sunny spells, light winds in the morning tend north to northeasterly in the afternoon.
Highs: 18-19

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas, East to Nor’East winds develop by midday. Inland winds remain light for much of the day.
Highs: 17-21

West Coast

Cloudy areas with light west to northwest winds, showers move into South Westland overnight as winds increase.
Highs: 17-18

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny with some high cloud increasing from afternoon, light westerly winds. The Otago coast sees morning cloud burn away to become mainly sunny however high cloud moves in there from afternoon also, winds tend northeast after midday. There may be a late evening or overnight shower for most.
Highs: 16-23
