A ridge extending out from an anticyclone in the Tasman Sea brings mainly settled weather to New Zealand today, some cloud and a few showers affect the east coast of the North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mainly sunny skies with southerly breezes, some cloud and the low risk of a shower possible about western Northland.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Cloudy areas and some sun west and south of about Wanganui, sunnier skies further west. South to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 11-14

Eastern North Island

Chance of an early shower then mostly clearing although hanging about the Mahia Peninsula and Gisborne area till evening. Expect cloudy areas and some sun for the remainder of the day with cold southwesterlies easing overnight.
Highs: 12-13

Wellington

Cloudy areas with breezy southerly winds, chance of a shower or two during the day otherwise dry.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 13-14

Canterbury

Sunny areas and a few clouds wafting about, light southwesterlies.
High: 9-12

West Coast

Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 11-13

Southland & Otago

A mostly sunny day after any morning cloud clears, light winds.
Highs: 9-13
