A southwesterly airflow eases over the country today, watch out for a frosty night ahead for some especially inland.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Showers (heavy about Northland) ease then clear early afternoon for Northland and Auckland. Southwesterly winds tend southerly by evening. Sunny or becoming sunny elsewhere in the morning with southerly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny in the morning, a few clouds in the afternoon as light winds tend southwest. Taranaki is sunny from morning with southeasterly breezes.
Highs: 11-14

Eastern North Island

Sunny areas and some cloud with breezy southwesterly winds, easing in the evening. The Wairarapa, coastal Gisborne and other exposed eastern areas like a the Mahia Peninsula may see the odd shower or two during the day.
Highs: 12-13

Wellington

Cloudy areas where the odd shower or two is possible during the day otherwise dry, breezy southerly winds.
Highs: 11-12

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with light winds, southwesterlies about coastal southern Marlborough ease during the day.
Highs: 13-14

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to a mostly sunny afternoon, a few showers on Banks Peninsula gradually ease clearing late afternoon or evening. Southwesterlies die out in the evening.
High: 12

West Coast

Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 11-13

Southland & Otago

Mostly cloudy in the morning then a few sunny areas from afternoon, chance of an early clearing shower. West to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 8-10
