A gentle northwesterly airflow lies over the country today while a low moves towards New Zealand from the west later in the day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny areas and some mid / high level cloud, light northerly quarter winds.
Highs: 22-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Sunny areas and cloud gradually increasing during the day, westerly quarter
winds. Taranaki mainly cloudy however with patchy drizzle.
Highs: 21-24

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny weather with some high cloud, light east to northeasterly
winds.
Highs: 22-24

Wellington

Periods of cloud and a few sunny spells, breezy northerly quarter
winds.
High: 19

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny areas and some high cloud, northerly quarter winds from midday.
Highs: 21-25

Canterbury

Sunny areas and some high cloud, light northeasterlies.
Highs: 22-23

West Coast

Mostly cloudy, some rain at times more so about South Westland. Light
northerlies.
High: 19

Southland & Otago

Mostly cloudy with spells of rain at times, dry for some areas especially
eastern Otago during the day and Southland in the morning. Light winds.
Highs: 18-19
