Anticyclonic conditions over the South Island bring mainly sunny weather today, expect east to northeast winds to pick up this afternoon along the east coast however bringing brisk winds. The North Island lies under a southeasterly airflow still, mainly settled in the west although expect cloud along the east coast and about Northland.

Northland

Cloudy areas and a few sunny spells, sunny spells more likely in the west and cloudier in the east. Low risk of a brief shower at times in the east. Breezy southeasterly winds.

Highs: 22-23

Auckland

Mostly sunny with east to southeasterly breezes.

High: 24

Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with easterly breezes.

High: 24

Waikato & Central North Island

Mostly sunny with east to southeaterly breezes.

Highs: 22-26

Eastern North Island

Cloudy areas and a few sunny spells possible, east to southeasterly winds.
Gisborne will likely have cloudy skies all day with the chance of a drizzle
patch now and then.

Highs: 19-20

Taranaki

Sunny with southeasterlies easing, winds tend westerly in the afternoon
about northern Taranaki.

Highs: 22-23

Western North Island

Sunny with easterly winds.

High: 23

Wellington

Mostly sunny with gentle southeasterly winds.

High: 21

Nelson

Sunny with light winds in the morning then afternoon northeasterly
winds.

Highs: 21-22

Marlborough

Sunny with east to northeast breezes from midday, light winds in the
morning.

Highs: 22-23

Canterbury

Sunny with light east to northeasterly winds building near the coast, brisk
in the afternoon. Lighter winds inland.

Highs: 20-22

West Coast

Mostly sunny with light winds in the morning, winds tend west to southwest
in the afternoon.

High: 20

Coastal Otago

Mostly sunny with light winds in the morning, afternoon easterlies.

High: 20

Central Otago

Sunny with light winds tending west to southwest in the afternoon.

Highs: 24-25

Southland

Mostly sunny after any early cloud clears, light winds tend south to
southwesterly in the afternoon.

High: 19
