A west to northwesterly airflow picks up across New Zealand today, northeasterly winds build along eastern coastlines however not tending northwest till late afternoon or evening.

Auckland & Northland
Mostly sunny with southwesterly breezes for Auckland, picking up a little in the afternoon. Northland sees afternoon sea breezes then easing evening.
Highs: 21-22

Bay Of Plenty

Sunny with light winds tending northerly in the afternoon.
High: 21

Waikato & Central North Island

Sunny with winds tending westerly in the afternoon, some late cloud
possible.
Highs: 21-20

Eastern North Island

Sunny with light southerlies tending northeast in the afternoon,
northwesterly winds pick up about the Wairarapa late afternoon / evening.
Highs: 18-20

Western North Island

Sunny areas and some cloud, thickening later. West to northwest
winds.
High: 19

Wellington

Sunny areas and increasing cloud, northerly winds build
High: 18

Nelson

Mostly sunny with north to northwest winds building in the afternoon.
High: 20

Marlborough

Sunny with northwesterlies building from afternoon, a little high cloud
later in the day.
High: 24

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with northeasterly winds picking up in the afternoon, some
high cloud. Northwesterly winds build inland spreading to the coast later in the
evening.
High: 19-21

West Coast

Sunny areas and increasing cloud with northwesterly winds. About South
Westland expect mostly cloudy skies from morning, patchy drizzle moves into
Fiordland during the morning then turns to rain in the evening.

Coastal Otago

Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, northeasterlies freshen. Risk of
some late brief rain
High: 18

Southland & Central Otago

Sunny areas and periods of high cloud, northwesterly winds strengthen. A
few early spots of rain in the morning then again in the evening.
High: 17-19
