A ridge lies over the country today bringing mainly settled weather however upper cooling of the atmosphere will lead to isolated showers about the upper North Island this afternoon / evening. A few of these showers may become heavy with thunderstorms then clearing later.

Northland

Periods of cloud with a few showers about, light southeasterlies early on tend easterly by midday. Showers clear late afternoon with cloud breaking away.

Highs: 17-18

Auckland

Periods of cloud with light northeasterlies, isolated showers develop in
the afternoon (possibly heavy) then clear later.

High: 18

Bay Of Plenty

Sunny spells with light afternoon northeasterlies, isolated showers late
afternoon / evening especially inland.

High: 18

Central North Island & Waikato

Sunny spells with light winds, late afternoon / evening isolated showers
develop possibly heavy with thunderstorms then clearing later (mainly Lake Taupo
northwards).

Highs: 18-19

Eastern North Island

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, gentle southerly
breezes.

High: 17

Taranaki

Mostly sunny with southeasterlies dying away in the morning.

Highs: 18-19

Western North Island

Sunny with light winds.

High: 19

Wellington

Becoming sunny in the morning, southerly winds ease.

High: 16

Nelson

Sunny with light winds in the morning, light afternoon northerlies.

Highs: 17-18

Marlborough

Any morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, light winds tend east to
northeast in the afternoon. Chance of a late afternoon / evening isolated shower in inland areas.

Highs: 18

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells by midday, easterly winds.

High: 16

West Coast

Mostly sunny with light winds.

Highs: 16-17

Coastal Otago

Sunny areas and some cloud, southwesterly winds.

High: 16

Central Otago

Sunny with light winds tending southwesterly in the afternoon.

High: 19

Southland

Morning cloud breaks to a mostly sunny day, west to southwest winds.

High: 13
