A front moves over the South Island this morning bringing some rain to most areas (heavy in the west) then easing afternoon, clearing in the east. Rain moving into most North Island regions this afternoon, brief spells of rain late afternoon or evening for the east coast.

Northland
Cloudy with rain developing in the morning, brisk to strong northeasterly winds. Rain heavy for a time in the afternoon then easing in the evening with strong northerlies easing.

Auckland

Cloudy with light showers from late morning then afternoon rain, possibly
heavy later today. Brisk northeasterly winds, strong at times from evening.
Winds change westerly overnight.
High: 17

Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy with a few light showers, rain develops late afternoon then becoming
heavy at times from evening.
High: 17

Waikato & Central North Island

Cloudy with patchy light showers, rain moves in during the afternoon
(possibly heavy) with increasing northeasterly winds. Rain eases in the evening
with winds tending northerly.
Highs: 13-16

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with northeasterly winds becoming gusty by midday, a few spells of
rain pass over late afternoon and evening then clearing. Winds ease
overnight.

Taranaki

Cloudy with strong northeasterlies, rain develops this morning becoming
heavy around midday. Rain clears in the evening as winds tend northwesterly then
ease.

Western North Island

Cloudy with some rain developing this afternoon, increasing northeasterly
winds. Rain clears overnight as winds change northwest.

Wellington

Cloudy with the odd shower rain by midday with strong northerlies gusting
to gale force at times. Rain eases late afternoon then clears evening as winds
tend strong northwest.

Rain with heavy falls developing this morning, strong north to
