A ridge lies over the country today extending out from an anticyclone in the Pacific Ocean. The weather is generally settled with plenty of regions seeing morning cloud or fog. Fiordland gets some rain this morning which then eases.

Northland
Cloudy areas and sunny spells at times, sunny spells especially in the west. During the afternoon there may be a brief shower move in to eastern areas then clearing in the evening.
Highs: 22-24

Auckland

Sunny spells with light easterly winds after any early fog lifts, low risk
of a brief shower in the afternoon about northern parts of Auckland.
High: 23-24

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island

Morning fog clears then expect mostly sunny weather with light winds.
Mostly sunny about the Bay Of Plenty with the chance of an early fog patch,
winds tend northerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 23-25

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny after morning cloud clears, light winds at first then
afternoon east to northeast winds. Expect some cloud about Gisborne northwards
from midday which may bring a brief afternoon shower or two.
Highs: 22-23

Western North Island

Morning low cloud or fog clears to a mostly sunny day, light winds. Winds
tend westerly in the afternoon about Taranaki.
Highs: 22-24

Wellington

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, northerly winds.
Highs: 19-20

Nelson

Any morning cloud clears to a mostly sunny day, light winds at first then
afternoon northerlies.
High: 21

Marlborough

Any morning cloud clears to a mostly sunny day, light winds at first then
afternoon northerlies.
Highs: 23-24

Canterbury

Areas of cloud morning and night with afternoon sunny spells. East to
northeast winds.
Highs: 20-21

West Coast

Sunny with some cloud, mainly morning and night. Light winds. Some rain
about Fiordland this morning eases to the odd light shower.
Highs: 18-19

Coastal Otago

Cloudy periods with sunny spells in the afternoon, east to northeasterly
breezes.
High: 18

Central Otago

Sunny areas and some cloud, light winds. In the afternoon there may be a
few isolated showers then clearing in the evening.
Highs: 22-24

Southland

Chance of some brief early rain then expect sunny areas and some cloud with
light northerly winds.
High: 21
