A ridge moves onto the North Island tonight bringing more settled conditions for most, winds easing this evening for most although about Wellington northwesterlies pick up overnight. For the South Island expect a strengthening northwesterly airflow, dry in the east with high cloud while showers or rain moves onto the West Coast.

Auckland & Northland
Any remaining showers mostly clearing this evening, clear spells overnight with west to southwest winds.

Bay Of Plenty

Mainly clear skies tonight, southwesterlies ease this evening.
Tonight’s Low: 4

Waikato & Central North Island

Any remaining showers clear this evening, cloud breaks later. West to
southwest winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 1-3

Eastern North Island
Showers, some heavy with possible thunderstorms and hail
clearing away this evening. Clear skies overnight with light winds although
northwesterlies may pick up about the Wairarapa.

Taranaki

Clear spells with southerlies tending westerly overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 6-7

Western North Island

Skies becoming clear this evening, northwesterlies freshen overnight
however with some cloud.
Tonight’s Low: 4

Wellington

Mainly clear skies with northwesterlies freshening this evening, some cloud
overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 6

Nelson

Mainly clear skies with northerlies tending southwest this evening.
Tonight’s Lows: 5-6

Marlborough

Clear skies with northwesterlies developing this evening.
Tonight’s Lows: 3-4

Canterbury

Clear skies with some high cloud developing this evening / overnight.
Northeasterlies near the coast ease this evening, winds tend northwest
overnight especially inland.
Tonight’s Lows: 2-4

West Coast

Cloud increases this evening with rain about Fiordland spreading north
during the night. Increasing northwesterly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 6-7

Coastal Otago

High cloud with northwesterly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 6-7

Central Otago

Plenty of high cloud with northwesterly winds, the odd brief shower or spit
at times mainly about the Southern Lakes area and west of there.
Tonight’s Lows: 4-5

Southland

Cloudy areas with brisk northwesterlies, chance spit or two otherwise
dry.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-8
