A ridge brings clearing skies over most of the South Island this evening although a weak front moving onto Southland and Otago later this evening then into Canterbury overnight does bring some further cloud. For the North Island showers in the west ease for most although continue to hang around Auckland northwards, in the east expect showers then rain overnight.

Showers, heavy at times for Auckland then easing this evening. Breezy cool southwesterlies.

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island

Showers about, some heavy with thunderstorms and hail for the Waikato and
Bay Of Plenty clearing this evening. Southwesterly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 4-9

Eastern North Island

Showers, some heavy with thunderstorms possible. Winds tend southwest. Rain
moves in overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-9

Western North Island

Showers, some heavy this evening then easing overnight, south to
southwesterly winds. About northern Taranaki showers clear this evening then
cloud breaks up overnight, southerlies.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-8

Wellington

Cloudy with rain easing this evening to the odd shower, breezy
southerlies.
Tonight’s Low: 10

Nelson

Areas of cloud breaking away this evening, light winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 4-5

Marlborough

Cloudy areas breaking up overnight, light winds.
Tonight’s Low: 3

Canterbury

Clear or skies becoming clear this evening with light winds, any remaining
showers about North Canterbury clear this evening. Overnight some further cloud
moving in with light southwesterlies. Chance of a shower south of Banks
Peninsula by dawn.

West Coast

Mainly clear skies with light winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 6-7

Coastal Otago

Cloudy periods with light winds. Low risk of an overnight shower.

Central Otago

Clear spells and periods of cloud, low risk of a shower passing through
overnight. Light winds.
Tonight’s Low: 3

Southland

Mostly cloudy with a few brief showers possible at times otherwise dry,
light northwesterlies tending southwest overnight.
