A ridge brings clearing skies over most of the South Island this evening although a weak front moving onto Southland and Otago later this evening then into Canterbury overnight does bring some further cloud. For the North Island showers in the west ease for most although continue to hang around Auckland northwards, in the east expect showers then rain overnight.

moves in overnight.

cloud breaks up overnight, southerlies.
