A northerly airflow increases over the South Island and lower North Island overnight as a deep depression moves from the Tasman Sea towards southern New Zealand. The upper North Island has a moderate northwesterly airflow. Expect rain in the West of the South Island overnight, some rain spills eastwards for a time. The North Island can expect the odd shower or drizzle patch about Wellington and some areas in the west south of the Waikato.

Auckland
Any remaining drizzle clearing this evening, cloudy areas overnight with west to northwest winds.

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Areas of cloud with west to northwest breezes, long clear spells about the Bay Of Plenty. There may be some overnight drizzle develop about the Central North Island and Waikato.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-14

Eastern North Island
Cloudy areas breaking up overnight as easterly winds tend west to northwest.
Tonight’s Lows: 12-13

Western North Island
Mostly cloudy with north to northwesterly winds, the odd light shower or drizzle patch about Kapiti and northern Taranaki overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-13

Wellington
Becoming mostly cloudy this evening, the odd light shower later or overnight with northerly winds strengthening.
Tonight’s Lows: 12-13

Nelson
Mostly cloudy with some rain developing later this evening or around midnight, north to northeasterly winds.
Tonight’s Low: 11-12

Marlborough
Increasing high cloud with easterlies easing this evening, some rain spreading from the west overnight as winds tend northerly.

Thick high cloud with brisk northeasterlies, rain develops overnight.

Cloudy skies with southerlies tending northeast around midnight, rain develops overnight.
