It’s a cooler start around New Zealand today but high pressure is returning bringing drier weather and some places may have passed their coldest part of the southerly change from yesterday.
The main pool of cooler air will take until later today to move off the country – and some in the lower South Island may notice a very slight lift in temperatures.
Most showers today will be on the West Coast and Southland – but one or two showers may form this afternoon inland to the east of the South Island, and possibly in some remote parts of the North Island. Keep an eye on rain radar and check the “% of rain” in your local WeatherWatch or RuralWeather Hourly Forecast to see if there any spikes for risk times for rain (sometimes even a very low risk amount (like 5%) can point to when a shower is perhaps most likely).
Tonight will be another cooler night nationwide – especially in the South Island’s interior. As the high moves over NZ tonight it means Thursday morning will be cooler. Showers tomorrow mostly shift to the eastern North Island caught up in a cooler sou’east airlfow there.
The next cold front moves towards the South Island on Friday and slowly moves into the North Island over the coming weekend, weakening as it heads northwards. See our latest weather video for more details!
