WeatherWatch videos on hold following injury

WeatherWatch head forecaster Philip Duncan will be unable to front weather videos for the rest of May following a home gardening injury that’s left him with a couple dozen stitches to his nose and face.

Duncan won’t likely be on screen this month as he recovers, however he is hoping to be back making weather videos at WeatherWatchTV much earlier than that – just without being on camera.

“The ladder I was on tipped in one small patch of soft soil and my nose took the brunt of the fall. Apart from feeling like an idiot, I’m not in pain and I’m extremely grateful to the incredible staff at both Waitakere and Auckland hospitals for helping mend me so fast – but right now I have a face for radio – not one for being on video. I’m hoping we can get some sort of weather videos running next week – even if I’m just off camera with audio narration” says Duncan. “I’m used to breaking news, not breaking nose!”.

WeatherWatch and RuralWeather will continue with a daily week-day news service to keep you up to date – and all our local forecasts continue to update hourly as usual.

Thanks for your understanding – and we REALLY look forward to getting back to normal as soon as we possibly can!

Mr Duncan, I hope you are mending well as taking a nose dive is not an attractive way to have a couple of days off. I do hope you have learnt your lesson and to foot the ladder in a better situation in future. , 🪜

All the best for a speedy recovery Philip. You easily provide the best regional weather info and forecasts available to us in NZ/Aust. It’s my experience also, that sometimes a ladder’s stability can be as unpredictable as some weather systems. Oh for perfect information!
