WeatherWatch head forecaster Philip Duncan will be unable to front weather videos for the rest of May following a home gardening injury that’s left him with a couple dozen stitches to his nose and face.
Duncan won’t likely be on screen this month as he recovers, however he is hoping to be back making weather videos at WeatherWatchTV much earlier than that – just without being on camera.
“The ladder I was on tipped in one small patch of soft soil and my nose took the brunt of the fall. Apart from feeling like an idiot, I’m not in pain and I’m extremely grateful to the incredible staff at both Waitakere and Auckland hospitals for helping mend me so fast – but right now I have a face for radio – not one for being on video. I’m hoping we can get some sort of weather videos running next week – even if I’m just off camera with audio narration” says Duncan. “I’m used to breaking news, not breaking nose!”.
WeatherWatch and RuralWeather will continue with a daily week-day news service to keep you up to date – and all our local forecasts continue to update hourly as usual.
Thanks for your understanding – and we REALLY look forward to getting back to normal as soon as we possibly can!

Good that you’re back into it now, and I’m pleased to know it wasn’t at work at least!
Keep up the good work you’re our go-to.

Hey Phillip,
Geez sorry to hear you had a tumble. Better outside of head than inside though! Says a bit about you the black and white account of events. Don’t worry we all are more clever in retrospect.
Thanks a lot for your forecasts. Really helpful for me. Sheep and beef farmer in the Wairarapa.
All the best for your recovery.
Cheers Bruce

I was wondering where you went! Glad you’re on the mend. Have just moved to a horse farm on the outskirts of Sydney. We are having a lot of rain and sun. End of Autumn. I miss you! You give the most precise weather with a great personality to match. I don’t mind you having a face for radio, please come back soon. You’re the best. Heal well. Ambe
