Foggy weather has affected flights in Wellington and Christchurch this week – we explain why and give you the more positive forecast for flying this weekend.
Humidity levels should also ease across the country by the end of the weekend after the south west change comes through.
Next week looks mostly dry with a high rolling in and humidity levels look set to increase again in the north by mid week as the easterly flow returns to northern New Zealand.

Can someone please inform me why metservice and weatherwatch predicted such extravagant highs for Christchurch for Friday? Metservice had a high of 31 predicted… yet as of 6pm it hasn’t got over 20! I understand it can be hard to tell when the norwester will push through… but I’d rather an underpromised forecast than an over promised!

the NWer sometimes passes above the city if not strong enough (or even doesn’t arrive) and allows the cool ENE into Chch instead that funnels from an often origin through cooks strait
