This week is dominated by westerly quarter winds for many regions, especially the South Island and lower North Island with high pressure somewhat controlling the weather across northern NZ.
The result will be a mainly dry and sunny week for many North Islanders and those across the east of both islands. Wet at times on the West Coast and windy and cloudy at times in southern NZ.
By Friday and the weekend a large low will be forming in the Tasman Sea and is likely to bring rain at some point to New Zealand.
