Weather Video: Easterlies arrive in the north, tropics about to influence NZ’s weather

> From the WeatherWatch archives

There is a big weather pattern change occurring in the NZ area and it’s all to do with the highs dropping south and the tropics expanding to our north. This means more easterlies – which kick in today in the upper North Island and expand southwards across a number of regions over the coming week or so.

A large sub-tropical low this Sunday to Wednesday will influence the weather pattern around the north eastern North Island in particular.

A week from now and another big low, possibly a tropical cyclone, should be north of NZ and may also be influencing our weather.

Expect more humidity in the north and east over the coming two weeks – the flip side of that is that western and southern regions should be hotter thanks to the airflow.
