Weather risks on Wednesday – UPDATED

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The main risks around the country today are associated with those strong winds brought in by the northwesterly airflow, and they all come in later in the day.
The winds will be fairly gusty for many areas across the country during the day, and as usual, the main risks will be for exposed inland areas of the eastern South Island.
Strong northwesterlies blowing gale force at times are in store for those areas, along with Cook Strait, and possibly the Southland coastline.
