NZ and Australia share weather risks over the next week as spring blasts kick in – plus Hurricane Ian makes landfall in Florida.
New Zealand – Low pressure dominates the North Island this weekend, after exiting Australia. Rain and wind are both likely in the north while the South Island sees showers clearing in many regions with high pressure. By mid-next week a polar blast is possible… following the wintry change for Southland and Otago moving setting in right now!
Australia – Low pressure departs eastern Aussie today leaving a showery sou’easter in the days ahead. A significant rainmaker for the deserts of Western Australia over the coming few days with over 800% normal rainfall, while mid next week a wintry blast is possible in Perth and also Hobart, as warm and windy northerlies blow through SA, VIC, NSW, ACT.
Florida – Hurricane Ian made landfall in south western Florida today as a Category 4 hurricane. Winds were sustained at 240km/h as it made landfall.
