VIDEO: Updated Labour Weekend Forecast as low develops

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Severe weather is expected in both main islands this long weekend, but mainly across the South Island as low pressure grows and engulfs the southern half of NZ.

Rain and wind warnings have been issued by MetService.

In true spring style there is warm to hot air around the north and east of NZ, with a more wintry southerly arriving in the south for the long weekend.

*Programming Note: We currently don’t have plans for a Friday weather video due to our small team being on leave for the long weekend – but due to the severe weather risks around the South Island we may still make our usual Friday video update. If we don’t make a video on Friday it’s because we don’t expect conditions to be any worse or too different to today’s (Thursday) forecast video. Either way, have a great long weekend!
