It’s the shortest day(s) of the year and both NZ and Australia have large areas of high pressure – with the NZ high pressure zone contributing a slightly cooler southerly into the tropics.
By Friday (Matariki) we’ll be seeing northerlies over NZ which will lift temperatures up from where they are today – but showers line up western NZ going into the weekend, while westerlies blow through southern parts of Australia.
