VIDEO: Spring’s westerlies return, southern cold snap Wed/Thur

New Zealand has a somewhat unsettled weather pattern for the next week as we lie between both high pressure and low pressure – and this encourages plenty of westerlies into NZ, sometimes warm north-west, other times cooler south-west.

We track the cold blip coming in for Wednesday and Thursday – mostly for the South Island, along with the wet weather.

Later this week and weekend high pressure is close over the central Tasman Sea – but perhaps not close enough to shut down the westerlies for NZ, and may keep them going into next week.
