High pressure has been dominating NZ for almost two weeks now but next week there is the chance of some northern rain – but based on the modelling at the time we recorded this, don’t hold your breathe too much.
The low has sub-tropical connections and therefore does bring some chance of rain to northerners. It’s expected to drop 100 to 200mm in Sydney and coastal parts of NSW before it moves to NZ next week. However, as high pressure crosses NZ from this Sunday to Tuesday, there is another high coming in behind it – leaving only a short window for that northern low to do its thing. Otherwise, many parts of the country will be drier than average for the next 7 days due to so much high pressure around our part of the world.
Parts of Victoria and South Australia haven’t even had rain this year – so the high pressure zones are certainly still dominating Australasia, as we reported 10 days ago in our May ClimateWatch update. Have a great weekend!
