High pressure is dominating NZ in the week ahead and while there are some showers most places that are dry today will be even drier one week from now.
These highs are also controlling the movement and path of two tropical cyclones directly north of NZ around the Coral Sea (Cyclone Alfred) and near Fiji and Tonga (Cyclone Rae).
A third tropical cyclone is west of Australia and poses no threat to land.
Despite all the tropical rain north of NZ, the weather here is looking drier than average for every region in the country except Fiordland.

Thank you for the very informative weather forecast report. You are by far the best weatherman in NZ and thank you for calling our country New Zealand and also for keeping everything in pure easy understandable English. It is like a breeze of fresh air.

I just want to thank you so much for providing us all with the best weather report anyone could wish for. You are so easy to understand. It’s just brilliant.
My kids bought me a number plate for my car VARBL5 Aunty now forecasting for my 60th birthday present on the weekend. Haha so appropriate as I have loved weather patterns and watch closely what’s going on. Which beach is the best for swims out of the wind etc. I am well known for being a weather nutter.
Thank you again. It’s much appreciated.
Cheers.

Hi Cherry,
Thanks for the kind message and love your 60th present. Following the weather gets addictive – once you get a taste for it many people then just want to know “but what happens next!?”.
All the best,
From one weather nutter to another 🙂
