If it’s been warm where you are in recent days, colder air is coming. A cold front reaches the lower South Island on Thursday PM and by Friday night it will be nationwide, bringing snow to the Southern Alps and frosts to South Island inland/higher elevation areas.
The cold change will bump several to more than 10 degrees off daytime highs for some locations. Even Auckland in the north will see Friday several degrees colder than yesterday was.
We track rain, temperatures and air pressure over NZ until next week + a special rainfall map for Hawke’s Bay with heavy rain on the way there this weekend. (Keep an eye out for likely MetService rain warnings for the eastern NI in the days ahead).
