VIDEO: Low pressure zone forming near Fiji

> From the WeatherWatch archives

There are a number of low pressure zones on our weather map today, in the Tasman Sea, around northern NZ and up in the tropics a new low will form this weekend around Fiji.

The low near Fiji is one to monitor – but isn’t yet ringing alarm bells. But for those in Fiji and Tonga it may bring some heavy rain. Future tracking isn’t yet locked in, but we hope to have more details tomorrow, Friday.

NZ has plenty of rain and showers and nor’west winds over the next few days, easing on Sunday and improving by Monday. (typical!).

Australia, on the other hand, has a surge of hot tropical heat in the south on Saturday – but another wintry southerly blast is coming back by Sunday and Monday.
