VIDEO: Lightning caught on cam hitting New Plymouth Wind Wand

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A classic spring front moving up the country over the past 24 hours created squalls, hail and this spectacular lightning strike in New Plymouth.

The video, captured by Primowireless.co.nz which has a webcam on the TWL Building.

Lightning struck the windwand. The same thing happened to Wellington’s zephyrometer a few years ago.

Thanks for the video Matthew Harrison (from Primowireless
