We still have two more hot days coming for many eastern areas but a cold, wet, change is slowly moving up the South Island.
In fact rainfall totals around parts of Southland and even Otago may be high enough to cause some concern with localised slips and flooding possible.
The heat from Australia, meanwhile, will make for a scorching hot day in the east and north of both islands for Monday and Tuesday.
By Wednesday most regions will be less muggy and have less heat as more of a southerly quarter airflow moves up the nation – until about this weekend. High pressure returns by about Sunday

Cant wait if true I dread summers these days as they are brutal cant wellington and auckland have 40 some people need to learn a lesson there
