VIDEO: ClimateWatch – APRIL sees more variety, but stubborn highs still in mix

Two big lows in the Tasman Sea shape the start of April for NZ and some eastern parts of Australia as a more energetic Autumn weather pattern develops south of us.

But rainfall looks below normal for drought zones in Australia – while New Zealand should see some relief into the drought zones in the west of the upper North Island (Auckland and Northland) in the first half of April.

Heavy rain will be hit and miss in both main islands of NZ with temperatures fluctuating more – but still likely warmer than average.

As for those stubborn high pressure zones – they change shape this month, increasing the dry in Australia but giving NZ more windy westerlies…but by mid-month we may be back to settled/dry high pressure again.

We have the latest Big Picture trends for air pressure, rain/dry, sea temperatures and overall land temperatures across New Zealand and Australia.
