A westerly airflow lies over the country today, the weather is generally settled and sunny for most with warm temperatures in eastern regions. The West Coast of the South Island gets showery weather with some rain there later in the day or overnight.

Northland
Mostly sunny with some morning cloud in the west breaking up. Light winds in the east with afternoon sea breezes, in the west expect southwesterlies this morning then lighter west to southwest winds this afternoon.

Bay Of Islands

Mostly sunny with light winds tending southwest this morning, afternoon sea
breezes.
High: 23-24

Auckland

Sunny spells and some cloud, cloud mainly about this morning. Southwesterly
breezes.
Highs: 21-22

Central North Island, Lake Taupo, Waikato
& Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with westerly breezes, easing later in the evening for
most.
Highs: 21-24

Eastern North Island

Sunny with light winds tending westerly this morning, afternoon sea breezes
develop about coastal areas.
Highs: 23-25

Western North Island

Mostly sunny with northwesterlies tending a little more westerly in the
afternoon. There may be some morning cloud about Taranaki at first with winds
tending southwesterly there, mostly sunny in the afternoon with
westerlies.
Highs: 19-21

Wellington

Mostly sunny with northerly breezes becoming brisk this afternoon.
Highs: 19-20

Nelson & Kateriteri

Mostly sunny with westerly breezes tending more northerly this
afternoon.
Highs: 22

Marlborough

Mostly sunny with westerly winds tending more northwest this
afternoon.
Highs: 24-25

Canterbury

Sunny with light winds near the coast and west to northwest breezes inland.
East to northeast winds pick up near the coast this afternoon then ease later in
the evening.
Highs: 21-24

West Coast

The odd shower with westerly breezes, rain moves in later in the evening or
overnight with heavy falls and thunderstorms possible.
Highs: 17-18

Coastal Otago

Mostly sunny with morning westerlies then afternoon easterly breezes. Some
evening high cloud and a few late spots of rain possible.
Highs: 17-18

Central Otago

Chance of an early shower otherwise expect sunny spells with westerly
breezes. A few spots of rain make there way in again during the evening.
Highs: 17-20

Southland

Any early showers clear with sunny spells developing, northwesterly
breezes. Winds tend lighter northerly in the evening with cloud and and some
rain developing.
Highs: 17-18
